Why Study Abroad?
I asked my research writing client this question. Formerly, she's a high school teacher in the Philippines. Willingly, she gave insights in connection with her decision - to study abroad in New Zealand to become an ECE teacher. Here they are as summarized by me:
Personal Growth. I want to develop independence, resilience, and self-reliance. Living abroad alone has deepened these qualities as I navigate challenges and responsibilities on my own.
Career Advancement. I realized that to enhance my job prospects with international experience, language skills, and cultural adaptability, I needed to study abroad. It's been a challenging but rewarding journey.
Diverse Education. I dreamed of accessing different teaching styles, curricula, and academic approaches. My Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) from New Zealand Tertiary College has been a fantastic experience.
Other students who studied and worked abroad shared the following as benefits:
Language Skills. Interacting with diverse nationalities improve their language proficiency and communication skills in a foreign environment.
Cultural Immersion. Immersing oneself in a new culture fosters empathy, understanding, and tolerance.
Global Perspective. Dealing with people from diverse cultures let them gain a broader understanding of the world, cultures, and societies.
Networking Opportunities. Connecting with people from diverse backgrounds provided them an opportunity to build a global network, thus opening doors to global career opportunities, research collaborations, and international projects.
Global Career Opportunities. The skills they developed gave them a global qualification that unlock work with international companies, organizations, or governments.
Based on these responses, it can be concluded that studying abroad can be a transformative experience that can broaden your horizons, challenge your perspectives, and unlock new opportunities for personal and professional growth.
